Default Ode to the General population...

I originally wrote this for the folks on the SOE forums, but it seems to fit here just as well! - Tal

In the process of playing I am typically good,
not wishing harm for my fellows is quite understood.
but lately it seems I am destined to fail,
for irksome wretches encountered, make me just want to bail.

Greed before need is a popular refrain,
"I wants it, I needs it!" cries Smeagol again.
clueless the class he is playing is moot,
just grasping all he can before getting the boot.

Likewise, vulgar names drive me crazy as hell,
the sexual perversions of so many ne'r do wells.
If only somehow it could be made to persist,
a working name filter, these fools would all cease to exist.

And their genuine shock, when I simply won't group,
with a warrior named after buffalo poop.
And what sort of moron gets his jollies upon,
Playing a female monk named kotex tampon?

It's enough to make you heave up your lunch,
but don't leave yet, my rant's just started to launch!
Another class of fools that gives me a frown,
are whom I deem, "do what I want, then get outta town."

They always want groups, for their urge is quite great,
for the "phat lewt" they love, and so concentrate,
urgent priority - for you to achieve all their deeds,
but which do not allow time for you or your needs.

Their task once completed, is thrown to the wind,
as are you, and the rest of the group you are in.
That the dungeon is deep, and its dangers most dire,
is inconsequential, as they zone out - and leave you to likely expire.

Last but not least is the arrogant buffoon,
whose inferiority complex requires he dominate your toon.
driven to level, and driven by greed,
his friends provide the exploits he needs,

to attain all his goals, with powerleveling zeal,
as if the attaining such makes his life seem more real?
It's important to him that we know he's elite,
he is obviously better, you're not allowed to compete;
or exchange in ideas, or opine on your own,
he "won" this game, therefore he runs the show!

But to conclude this most outrageous rant,
regarding all the nasty things so many do while others just can't,
know that there still in Tyria exists players good,
who'd join with you and form a grand brotherhood,
for nothing more than fun and a grand chance to try,
their hand at the challenges that caused so many to die.

true players with skill are far and between,
and they seldom if ever advertise on that theme,
but exist they still do, and without pause I can say,
we are all of us better for the roles that they play.

May your skills prevail,

Talesin

Very, very funny.

But, as I am sure you know, the loot grabbing doesn't really apply to GW.
